LG is a pure holding company founded in 1947 that became Korea's first holding company in 2003 through the merger of LGCI and LGEI. Its income comes mainly from subsidiary dividends, LG brand royalties and rent. Its main subsidiaries are in telecom and broadcasting equipment, petrochemicals, rechargeable batteries and wired and wireless telecom, and it pursues research in AI, robotics and cloud technology.
