LG Chem runs petrochemicals, advanced materials and life sciences businesses, along with its battery and crop protection subsidiaries, through 76 consolidated subsidiaries. Its petrochemical unit produces PE, PVC and ABS, its advanced materials unit makes battery materials such as cathode materials and separators plus electronic materials, and its life sciences unit makes drugs including a diabetes treatment. It was split off in 2001 and spun off its battery business in 2020.
